Composite

Upright to 3 ft. Branched in upper portion. Herbage blue green. Stem with prominent vertical grooves.

Flower: Head to 1/2 in across. 6-14 white petal like bracts. Ray flowers absent. Disk flowers rose to dark wine. 30-60 heads per cluster.

Leaves: To 7 inches long, in basal rosette and alternate along stem. Basal leaves long-stalked and usually cut or deeply lobed. Stem leaves much smaller and usually stalkless.
