Composite

Upright, slender, hairy, short-lived perennial to 28 in. Stem usually solitary, grooved, branching in upper portion.

Flower: Head to 1 in. 150-400 white threadlike ray flowers, many yellow disk flowers. Heads solitary, at ends of slender branches. May form large, loose terminal cluster.

Leaves:To 6 in. long. Basal leaves long-stalked, margins toothed or lbed. Upper leaves stalkless and clasping stem at base of blade, with margins entire or shallowly toothed.
