Upright to straggling hairy annual to 2 ft, stem much branched from base. Plant contains watery sap.
Flower: To 1 3/8 in across. 5 petals, blue to blue-violet, frosted or whitish in basal area, united basally into a short tube. Deeply 5 lobed at rim. The lobes are somewhat cupped or wide-opening and appearing flat. Flowers solitary from leaf axils or in clusters at tip of stem.
Leaves: 2-3 inches long, 1-2 inches wide, alternate, stalked, blue-green, the blade lobed or divided into broad segments.
