4 petals, arched with gaping mouth

Upright to sprawling or trailing, delicate winter annual to 2 feet. Stems one to several, containg bitter, watery juice. Herbage glaucous.

Flower:: To 5/8 inch long; petals 4, pale yellow, the upper most petal longest extending into sac-like spur at base. 6-20 flowers, intermixed with short, leaflike bracts in an elongated raceme.

Leaves: Alternate. Blade divided into 5-7 segments, thare are divided twice more.
