Sunflower
Tall, stiffly upright, stout, coarse, hairy perenail to 7 ft. Stems usually numerous and forming large clumps, branched in flowering portion. Colonies often develop from underground roots.
Flower: Head to 1/4 inch . Ray flowers few to several, yellow. Disk flowers one to few, yellow. Heads numerous on short branches along upper side of longer branches, the whole forming large, loose, terminal cluster.
Leaves: to 6 inch long and 1 1/4 inch width. Alternate, numerous, crowded stalkless, dull green, roughly hairy; margins shallow and widely toothed.
