Prostrate to decumbent (ie branch tips ascending) annual. Stems hirsute. To approx 3 ft. long.
Leaves: to 6 cm long. Opposite with 3-5(-6) paired leaflets. One of each pair smaller. Petals 3.5 - 6 mm wide. Margins entire.
Flower:5 (yellow -)orange petals, 5-11 mm long. Solitary in the axils of the smaller leaf of the pair. Peduncle equalling or commonly longer than subtending leaves.
Fruit :Roughened or warty but not prickly. Separating into 10 sections. Beak of fruit persists after sections fall off. Beak of fruit 4-9 mm long, longer than the fruit body.
