Scientific Name Coreopsis tinctoria

Composite

Upright, slender delicate annual to 4 ft.

Flower: Head to 1 1/8 in. across, solitary, terminal on slender branches. 5 - 9 yellow ray floers, generally with a red-brown spot at base. Occasionally all yellow or all brown. 3 toothed at tip. Disk flowers reddish brown.

Leaves: 2 - 4 in. long, opposite, stalkless or nearly so, occurring mostly in lower portion of plant. The blade once or twice divided into numerous narrow sebments. Upper leaves often undivided.
