Stiff upright annual to 20 in. tall. Stem solitary, branched in upper portion.

Flower: To 1 1/8 in. across. 5 yellow to copper petals, often with reddish brown markins or dark reddish lines at base, cupped, swirled at bed, falling early. Flowers few, short-stalked, forming open terminal clusters.

Leaves: To 1 3/8 in. long, about 1/8 in. wide, alternate, stalkless, upright, rigid.
