Low sprawling plant with many branches.
Flower: 5 petals opening widely. Salmon to scarlet 1/2 in. across. One flower per stem, growing from the leaf axil. Prominent stamens. Petals turn backward as they age, exposing the more prominent deep salmon center.
Leaves: Opposite, just over 1 in. long and attached directly to stem.
Also known as the poor man's weather glass because it closes its flowers at the approach of bad weather. |
