Low, upright to sprawling, 1-16 in. tall, stem solitary, branched at base.
Flower: 1/4 to 3/8 in across, 5 petals united at base and deeply lobed. Upper petals fused together appearing as one violet blue with darker veins. Lower 'petal' white with violet lines. Flowers solitary, very long-stalked, in axils of upper leaves.
Leaves: 1/4 to 1 1/8 in. long, alternate or opposite, stalkless or short stalked, margins somewhat rounded teeth or shallow lobes.
