Small tree to 30 ft. tall. Branches with or without stout straight thorns.
Flower: 5 white petals to 1 in. across, often with dark or red center. Numerous stamens.
Leaves:Deciduous, simple, alternate, blade egg-shaped, triangular or oval. Densely hairy or felty on bottom. Margins sharp-toothed, sometimes lobed.
Fruit:Sweet, red 1/2 to 1 in in diameter in fall.
